The chapter is a member of the world's largest all-male singing organization, the Barbershop Harmony Society, an organization of over 30,000 men of all ages, from all walks of life, who love to sing a cappella harmony. 

The A-089 Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society actively participates in and promotes a variety of singing activities in Saint Joseph and surrounding communities of Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas.
